Day-Wise Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Guwahati
Your Meghalaya holiday begins as you arrive at Guwahati Airport or railway station. The NFTT World team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel.
Keep the evening free to rest after your journey. Enjoy dinner and settle in for your first overnight stay in Guwahati.
Day 2: Guwahati to Kaziranga via Kamakhya Temple
Start the day with a visit to the revered Maa Kamakhya Temple, one of Guwahati’s most significant spiritual landmarks. After darshan, travel onward to Kaziranga.
The drive is approximately 200 km and may take around six hours, depending on road and traffic conditions. Arrive in Kaziranga, check in and relax for the night.
Day 3: Kaziranga Local Sightseeing
Today is for the wild side of Assam. Explore the Kaziranga region and visit the Orchid Garden.
Guests may also choose an elephant ride or jeep safari at an additional cost, subject to park operations and availability. Kaziranga National Park typically remains open from 1 November to 30 April. Safari access during other periods can be limited due to weather and flood conditions.
Day 4: Kaziranga to Shillong via Umiam Lake
After breakfast, leave Kaziranga for Shillong, often called the Scotland of the East. On the way, stop at beautiful Umiam Lake, where the surrounding hills and quiet waters create a lovely first impression of Meghalaya.
Water activities may be available at Umiam Lake at an additional cost. The journey is approximately 240 km and can take around six hours.
Day 5: Cherrapunjee Day Trip
Get ready for a day full of waterfalls, caves and big Meghalaya scenery. Travel from Shillong to Cherrapunjee, a place famous for its rain-soaked landscapes and dramatic valleys.
The sightseeing plan includes Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Elephant Falls and the Garden of Caves. Each stop has its own character. Some are grand and roaring while others feel quiet and almost secret.
After a memorable day in Cherrapunjee, return to Shillong for an overnight stay.
Day 6: Mawlynnong and Dawki River Excursion
Today, visit Mawlynnong, widely known as the cleanest village in Asia. Its neat pathways, green surroundings and community-led cleanliness make it feel less like a tourist spot and more like a lesson in simple living.
You’ll also visit the famous Living Root Bridge, where nature and local ingenuity have grown together over generations. Later, head to the Dawki River, known for its clear water and scenic setting. Return to Shillong for the night.
Day 7: Shillong to Guwahati and Brahmaputra Cruise
After breakfast, travel back to Guwahati. In the evening, enjoy a Brahmaputra River cruise and watch the city slow down around you.
It is a relaxed finish to a journey packed with forest roads, waterfalls and hill views. Stay overnight in Guwahati.
Day 8: Guwahati Departure
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Guwahati Airport or railway station. Take home photographs, stories and the kind of calm that only the hills can give you.
